Job Description We are looking for a top notch Unix Systems Administrator with experience in web-scale infrastructure, monitoring and escalation procedures.The ideal candidate will have worked with proprietary SaaS applications in a high-availability production environment and have the ability to rapidly self-educate on new concepts and methods.

Primary Responsibilities: (what you get to do every day!)
  • Principle: 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Monitoring (Nagios, Ganglia, SNMP).
  • Troubleshooting /support of a large Centos/Unix web presence in 8 datacenters worldwide.
  • "Rack, Stack and Build"; build out new systems, installs images/base systems, manage power and racks at datacenters.
  • Systems updates and Maintenance.
  • Software Build and Release (RPM, Puppet, Bamboo, etc).
  • Java application support.
  • Working with Fortune 500/1000 companies.
  • System Inventory.
  • 5% travel -- may include International Travel.
  • Support corporate Atlassian Confluence and Jira implementations.
Technical Skills Or Qualifications Required Requirements (as a Systems Admin, this position requires the below skills and experience)
  • BS in a computing discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Self-starter and fast-learner.
  • Aggressive and decisive (think: market dominance!).
  • 2-4 years production internet SaaS systems administration.
  • Linux administration (Centos).
  • Configuration/administration of Tomcat.
  • Systems build and deploy.
  • Basic SQL.
  • Shell scripts.
  • Geographic load balancing (Dynect, Neustar, etc).
  • Familiarity with storage solutions including Direct attached, JBOD and RAID.
  • Team player--it's a small team, and when needed at 1:00 AM, we work together.
  • Great communicator--we act as a team, we celebrate successes together and we brainstorm our way together through challenges.
Additional Skills Desired (should be strong in at least one)
  • Hadoop and/or PostGres experience is a plus!
  • Hardware evaluation and specification; what's new, what's great?
  • VPN configuration/administration.
  • Systems and network security.
